Thursday Update

So far I have 11 people who have left comments this week. There is only a little over 12 hours to leave a comment today. I know you don’t want to miss out on the Friday Fat Quarter give away. Good Luck.

Goose Creek Quilt Top

I just finished sewing all the strips together. Whew. I was half way done. Once I started the second half it went by in a breeze. I am so excited about this top. I love antique looking quilts. And now I am in love with the scrappy look. It isn’t 100% scrappy. I couldn’t possible bring myself to by hundreds of different civil war fabrics. It is just too expensive. So I did my best trying to keep like patterns away from each other. There is only one problem. I love it so much I don’t want to give it up. BOO HOO. Maybe someday I can make myself one. It looks mighty nice on my bed though. LOL.

Good Morning

I haven’t had much time to do any sewing the last couple of days. Usually on the weekends we are busy doing family things. Sunday at church we had a birthday celebration for the whole year. We design tables for each month and have a big cake and ice cream party. It was a lot of fun. We had a huge turn out his year. More than we expected I think. I decorated the table for the month of September. My theme was bringing in the harvest. It was cute.

I used John Deer plates and napkins. There are veggies and fruits on the table. Joshua was kind enough to let me borrow his tractor for my center piece. I also made a cake and tried to make it look like a barn.

I have spent the last two days cleaning up around the house and running to stores. Yesterday was my hubby’s 34th birthday. Yeah. We had a nice meal. He wanted a pineapple upside down cake and French vanilla ice cream. His brother and family came over after supper and brought him some gifts. It was a very nice relaxing evening. Many thanks to God for those.

Autumn Tints Blocks

I received these beauties in the mail today. They are from a swap I was in. There are 18 blocks total. I’m not exactly sure what I am going to do with them. I could make 5 more and make a lap quilt for the living room or den. Or make a wall hanging out of them. I don’t think I want to make anything bigger than a lap quilt. I just have too many projects as it is. It is almost big enough to be a table cloth. LOL.

What do you think I should do? Please leave me some advice.

Half Way Done

I am half way done with the goose creek quilt top. I sewed the bottom four rows together today. It looks great. I am jealous that I didn’t make this for myself. LOL. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the other 4 rows sewn together. I still have to go through my stash to see what fabric I want to use for the border. I am going to put a small border all the way around. Nothing to wild. I want the top to stand out more than the border.

Last night I sewed together some bow tie blocks. I had some in drawer from swaps. I ended up with 10 12 inch blocks. Today I got out some scrappy blocks from a swap and ironed them. I counted 38 10 inch blocks. I think I will make some more and make a top for my bed. I think I am learning to love scrappy quilts as much as the antique patterns.

Today I also sewed up the February 2008 BOM. The pattern is the Austin Star from Quilter’s Cache.

The four corners are a light blue civil war print. They are a little darker in person.

Off to make supper. 1 1/2 days left to post and enter your name in the drawing for the Blueberry Fat Quarter. Good Luck everyone. God Bless.

Progess made…

Today I got to sew. I sewed the goose creek blocks up. I ended up with 64 blocks. So it will be 8 rows x 8 rows. I laid all the blocks on the living room floor and laid them out how I thought they looked best. That was a chore. Crawling around on the floor seemed much easier when I was younger and not 6 months pregnant. LOL. So now I have them pinned together in rows. Hopefully tomorrow I can get the rows sewn up. I will post a picture when I have them sewn together.

Goose Creek Blocks

Here are the pictures of the goose creek blocks I have been telling you about. My friend Jerrie came over Thursday. I was able to get them half completed. So Now you have the idea of what 256 6 1/2 inch blocks look like stacked. I am anxious to get them sewn together. I was hoping to get that done today. House hold duties called instead. Now that I am done there isn’t enough time to sew before supper. Hopefully tomorrow can be a sewing day.
