Hump Day
It is Wednesday. What are your plans today? I know the day is half over. LOL.
I have to go pay the electric bill and go buy some black thread to hem some pants for a girl at church.
I have been updating our church calendar all morning. We have a website but have been behind on updating it. My hubby has been working hard this week updating it. I volunteered to help. So I got to add the info to the calendar. The church site is Eastwood Online if you want to check it out. We are proud of it. We have a lot of great things going on this year.
I did some sewing the last two days. I am working on a quilt for a friend at church. It calls for me to make 256 6 1/2 inch squares. I will take a picture and post them later. It has taken a while to get them all sewn together. Now I just have to sew the blocks together to make the top. Then i am sending it to my mother in-law. She has a long arm quilting machine. She is going to quilt it for me. I can’t wait to see the finished product. I am using the Goose Creek pattern from Quilters Cache. It is a scrappy quilt. My first one.
Well off to the store. Happy sewing.

I went to the doctor today and had an ultrasound. It was wonderful getting to see him in all his glory. He was active during the ultrasound. He was swallowing and moving his arms and legs. He didn’t like all the poking. When she got a good shot of his face it looked like he smiled at us.
My due date has been moved up to May the 7th. I will be 24 weeks along on Wednesday. We are all very excited and can’t wait for May to get here. We are truly blessed. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Fat Quarter Friday
In order to try to generate more traffic on my site I have decided to have Fat Quarter Friday. Well what is that you ask. Everyone who posts a comment between now and Thursday evening 11:59pm will be entered into a drawing to win the fat quarter pictured. I thought it would be neat to show the fat quarter. Now I have quite a stash going. So I am going to do this for the next 4 weeks. If I get a good response then I will continue with the drawing on a weekly basis. If not then maybe we will do it every two weeks. So if you want to enter to win leave me a comment.
He is this weeks fat quarter.
Oh and all my fabric is washed. I like to have it all washed that way when I need to use it I don’t have to wash it.
Happy Commenting.
8 commentsBaby Quilt w/ 1930’s Material
I came across some 1930’s material I had bought while going through my stash. I bought a half of a yard of it knowing I would use it some day. This is another material that speaks to the kid in me. I used some of it to make a friendship star block for a swap the other day and thought this would be cute for a baby quilt. So I left it out so that I would remind myself to use it. I recently got my Quiltmakers magazine in the mail. It was sitting on the coffee table so I flipped through it. On the back page I came across a picture of a quilt that jumped out at me. The pattern was called Take 5. The colors were the same as what I wanted to use for my baby quilt. I thoroughly examined the quilt and figured out how to make one of the blocks. I immediately went to my stash and started digging for fabrics to go with the 30’s material. The colors in the material are yellow, a sage green, red, and a little black.
Of course not having the actually size of the blocks I just made up my own. I used 4 1/2 inch squares, 2 1/2 inch squares, and a 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 inch rectangle. The finished blocks came out to 6 1/2 inches. Once I had 20 blocks made I laid them out on the kitchen table trying to decide on how to sew them together. After a few minutes I came up with the now finished product. I added a 2 1/2 inch border of the red print. The top measures 28 x 34 inches.
Here is a close up of the 30’s material and other prints I had to go with it.
Here is a picture of it in black and white. I was playing around with the settings on the camera.
3 commentsPictures Of Tyler and Joshua
Aren’t they cute? I guess I am partial since they are my children. LOL. This picture was taken on Christmas morning. I was the first to wake up. Then Tim, Tyler, and Josh was last. They had a great day. They spent all afternoon playing with their toys.
This is from Saturday. We had a combined birthday party for them and invited their friends over. We had a scavenger hunt inside the house. It was raining out. Yuck. It was fun. They sure do make out having a birthday right after Christmas. I am glad the next baby will have a birthday in the middle of the year.
Tyler went back to school yesterday. He didn’t want to go back. It is nice to have the house back to me and Joshua.
Free Educational Worksheets for Early Childhood Through 5th Grade
Mary told me about the site above. I printed some out and Joshua and I worked on three sheets today. He did very well. We worked on recognizing letters of the alphabet. If you have young kids go check it out.
2 comments2007 Amish Block of the Month Quilt
Here is a picture of a top I put together today. The blocks are from a swap on 3 Sisters Cyber Quilting from 2007. It was called the Amish Block of the Month. I decided that I wanted to have a fancy/ interesting border. So I decided to use the pioneer braid from Quiltville. Thanks to Bonnie and all her hard work. I was intimidated by it but thought I would give it a try and see how it went. It was easier than I thought it would be. I have some left over pieces that I am going to use with some other material to make a baby quilt.

I Won the Block Lotto
Wow I have to say that I was so excited to learn that I won some quilt blocks. I hardly ever win anything. I sent in three star blocks and won mine plus 12 more. How cool is that? Very…right? I made the three blocks in the bottom of the picture. I am going to make some more so that I have 24 blocks that way it will be big enough for our queen sized bed. What a great reason to buy fabric. LOL.
