Fat Quarter Friday- Light Blue Floral Fabric

Here is the next fat quarter up for grabs. I will draw a name on Halloween. If you want to be entered just leave me a comment between now and October 30th at 11:59pm CST. Happy sewing and blogging.

Appliqued Lilies

I started this project 2 years ago. It is a UFO that I have been wanting to working on and just haven’t had the time. I appliqued the lilies on to super muslin using wonder under. I decided that I wanted to hand embroider the stitching. Whew. That is part of the reason it took me so long to do it. There are 8 flower blocks. 2 orange, 2 yellow, 2 red, and 2 dark red. I have some Lily material that I had bought at hobby lobby that has the same color flowers in it. I am going to use it for the sashing and border.

Here is picture of Andrew from last night. He was sitting with Tim on the couch watching The Office. He was getting sleepy. They looked so cute. Tim drinks coffee almost constantly. Andrew has discovered the cup and wants to drink it too. He will put both little hands on the cup and bring it up to his mouth. He knows what to do. It is so amazing how quickly they learn how to do things.

Give Aways

My good friend Brenda is having her 100th post give away. Way to go Brenda. So head on over to her site and enter.

Also today is the last day to leave me a comment to win this 1930′s fat quarter.

My husband also sent me this link about the nasty stuff that is in bottled water.

Check it out.

Pumpkin Stencil Maker

Better Homes and Gardens has a pumpkin stencil maker on their site. It is pretty neat. You can print out the design you come up with for you own pumpkins. This is great for kids who want a different look to their “Jack”. You have to register to be a member but that is easy and painless.

Halloween Trick or Treat Bags

I whipped these up tonight for my children. They are made out of orange felt. I can’t believe how easy they were. The ghost is made from white craft foam. I hot glued them to the felt. Then I glued on google eyes.

Today Andrew atempted to hold his bottle. He held it for about 30 seconds. He keeps trying to stick his finger in his mouth and suck on it while he is sucking the nipple. Silly boy.

Halloween Fabric Postcards

Yesterday while Andrew took a nap I was able to make some Halloween fabric postcards to mail out for this month.

This one shows some free motion quilting I did to give it a little more pizazz.

This bat I ironed on. It looked a little blah so I decided to try a little free motion quilting on it too. I like the craziness of the outline on the bat. I still have to finish the edges on all of these with a satin stitch.

Double Irish Chain Quilt Top

Here is my progress on the double irish chain quilt that I am making for my mother. I managed to get 5 blocks done this weekend. I need 36 blocks. They are 15 inch blocks. The material is a blender.

Family Pictures

Joshua is over the pink eye. Saturday he had a soccer game. He did well. I didn’t get many pictures of him playing. He only played two quarters and there goal was at the other end of the field. Here are a few pictures I did take.

I bought Joshua some Halloween play dough. He decided to make Halloween figures with it. He made a snake and other things but he didn’t let me get a picture of them.

Have you missed me?

I feel like I haven’t posted in forever. I have been sick and busy. All my children have been sick. Joshua had the stomach virus Sunday. Tyler stayed home from school Monday with a fever and upset stomach. Today Joshua woke up with pink eye in both eyes. Andrew is still congested but seems to be getting better. Tim had a migraine all weekend and drill. I have had a head cold for over a week. and my back has been bothering me. Please say a prayer for us.

Tomorrow my dad is coming from Florida. He is going to be staying for a while. it will be nice to get to spend some time with him. The kids are really looking forward to it. I haven’t had time to sew. I have been trying to get the house good and clean but it just doesn’t seem to be possible.

All in all things are good. I need about 24 hours of sleep.

Last Friday Tyler was in the Homecoming parade. He is the student counsil reporter.

Both of Andrews bottom teeth are through. You can barely see them in the picture. He is drooling like crazy. Gotta love that smile.
