I finished making the top of this double irish chain last night. It has been a long process. I would say that I have 15 hours into it already. I still have to sandwich it and quilt and tie it. I made this for my mother. She requested a quilt for her bed. Sorry it has taken so long mom. I didn’t realize how time consuming this pattern was. With Andrew I don’t get nearly enough time to sew. Thanks to my hubby, Tim, I was able to sew for 6 hours last night.
Congratulations Joan @ How to be a Housewife. You won this fat quarter.
I just want to say thank you to all of my faithful blog readers. Many of you have become dear friends. I cherish each and everyone of you. I hope you all have a wonderful beginning to 2009.
Saturday evening Tyler and I made Christmas cookies. Joshua helped decorate them. It was fun. Hopefully it will be something they will remember and want to do with their children some day. Tyler has taken an interest in cooking. So maybe he will help out in the kitchen when he is married. I hope to raise boys who don’t mind helping around the house. I know it will make their lives easier when they are married. LOL.
I just realized that we did not take pictures of the finished cookies. Silly us.
Here are my boys being silly for the camera.
Yesterday Tim’s brother Greg and his family came over to open gifts and have a huge meal. Boy did we eat. We always make way too much food and then are stuffed for the rest of the day. There was 9 of us and I think we could of fed about 20 people. It was so good. We like to make abunch of different appetizers. We usually get together on Christmas Eve. Greg and Mary have to work that day so we decided to do it yesterday.
Andrew did pretty good getting the paper off. However he wanted to eat it. Everything must be tasted. Yesteday we thought we heard him say I love da da. We thought he was saying Look da da. But he said it a few times and it sounded like I love da da. It was so cute.
I thought I would share some ornaments that I have received. I was in a cupcake ornament swap and received this cutie.
We received a package from Tim’s parents. His mom made two adorable ornaments. We love them.
I made this cupcake pincushion. I am going to make a few more and give them away as Christmas presents.
It measures 3 inches high and 2 inches wide. I found a place to buy the little ceramic dishes for 95 cent a pack. 2 come in a pack. You can’t get much better than that.
Last night we went to Tim’s bosses house for a Christmas party. It was fun. Her house is huge. It is right on the river. It was very foggy last night. We went out on the dock and it was kind of spooky. The fog was very thick.
For anyone who is interested. I started a quilting magazine swap on Swap Bot. We will swap one magazine and have one partner. It can be a new or old magazine. Sign ups go through January 7th and the magazine has to be mailed by January 31st.
Here is the last fat quarter give away for the year. I have estimated that I have given away about 45 fat quarters this year. That is a little over 11 yards of fabric. I hope everyone has enjoy the FQ’s they have received. I have decided to take a break from it for next year. It has been wonderful meeting so many people. I have made some wonderful friends in the process. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for visiting my site and for your friendship. I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas.
I will announce the winner on December 26th.
It started sleeting around 4:00pm. About 6:00pm it started snowing. We never have snow. So when we do it is so exciting.
Here is Tyler jamming on the guitar this morning. The schools are delayed for 2 hours because of ice on the roads.
I took this picture last night of Andrew.
Here is my husband, Captain Elam with Andrew at the Christmas lunch for his unit last Sunday.
Andrew sat with Santa and didn’t cry. Yeah. He wasn’t scared.
Andrew found the Christmas tree. He was able to pull ornaments off.
