451 Give Away Winner

I used a random number generator and Annemarie’s number was picked. Congrats Annemarie.

Thank you to those of you who joined My Quilting Buddies. We have some great new swaps open for sign ups. I will be hosting a mystery quilt this month too. Come and check us out.

451st Post Give Away

This is my 451st post. Where has the time gone? In honor of it I am giving away these awesome gifts. There is a catch though so keep reading.

I am a co-administrator on My Quilting Buddies.com. My dear friend Tina started this website back in August as a place for us to meet and swap. It is full of really awesome people from around the world. We have monthly, quarterly, sewing, and non sewing swaps. We also have a ton of links to free patterns and blocks. Some of which I created. There is also a barter board for sewing and non sewing items. We would love to have you come and join us.

If you join My Quilting Buddies in February you will be entered in the drawing for these gifts. I am really hoping we can get some new friends to swap with. If you do this and post about it on your blog you will get an extra entry. Make sure that you post separately for these two entries. So one post here that you joined the group and a separate one for posting on your blog. I will draw a name for the give away on February 28th. Hubby has surgery on the first. Don’t think I will be anywhere near a computer to draw a name at that time.

The prizes to be given away to one person are this table runner made by me, the 50 Country Quilting Projects Book, and a Moda Charm pack.

I will also include a Moda Charm pack.

Projects in the Works

I am designing some quilt patterns for My Quilting Buddies online quilt guild. We have a jelly roll swap were we swap 10 strips per partner. I thought it would be great to have some FREE PATTERNS for people to use with these 2 1/2 inch strips. I have searched the internet for some free patterns and haven’t come across many. I am also going to create some quilt patterns using 5 inch charms from charm packs. We have a swap for this also. We swap 10 5 inch squares per partner.

Here is a scrappy friendship star quilt I am making a free pattern for.

Hopefully I will get some time soon to create the directions and put them in down loadable PDF format.

Happy Sewing.

Calorie Counting Receipt

I found this on digg.com and thought I would share it. I wish all fast food places would do this. It would make counting calories so much easier.

Baby Clothes Memory Quilt

Last week I mailed this crib sized memory quilt off to a customer in California. She sent me some squares of her son’s baby clothes. I free motion quilted the quilt with a medium meander stitch. I love it. It made me want to make some for my kids. Right now I am working on two twin sized t-shirt quilts for customers. I will be having some late nights. I am a very busy girl.

Quilt Pattern

I made this lap quilt for Tim’s boss. She got married yesterday. It was a 1920’s themed wedding. It was a lot of fun. I left my camera in the car, so I didn’t get to take any pictures. The bridesmaids were all dressed in 20’s dresses. The groomsmen were dressed in Zoot suits. It was very unique. Something I am sure they will always remember. The guests were asked to dress up also. I found an outfit with a twenties flair and Tim bought a black pin striped suit. I did my hair in pin curls around the fr0nt and pulled the back into a low pony tail and tied a black velvet ribbon around it. I also wore a feather hair piece. I got a lot of compliments on my hair. People were surprised I did it myself. It wasn’t easy and took about an hour just to do the pin curls.

DSC04276copy2 (Small)I was playing around with a program called Gimp which is similar to Photo Shop but free. I use it to edit photos for the web page. I came up with these different looks by playing with the hue saturation.  There is so much you can do to a photo to get different looks. I think these would look great on note cards. The first picture is the original.

My New Sewing Box

Saturday my husband and I went to an estate sale in our neighborhood. As we walked from room to room looking for hidden treasures I came across a sewing box and an old singer sewing machine. The sewing box reminded me of the one my mother had in our house growing up. I opened it up and it was filled with all kinds of wonderful notions. Lace trim unopened from the 1970’s, unopened thread, buttons, and two paper measuring tapes. I was oohing and ahhing enough that Tim said he would buy it for me. I was so excited. Like a kid in the candy store.  I wish I had my camera to take a picture of the machine. If it had worked my husband was going to buy it for me.Isn’t he a doll.
