Andrew Sat Up….
Tonight Andrew sat up by himself. He was able to stay up right for a few minutes before he leaned to the side and fell over. It was so cute. He is growing up so fast. I sat behind him on the floor for about 30 minutes and he sat there and played. Where has the time gone? He will be 7 months old on the 25th.
1 commentWeekend Update
I haven’t had time lately to post any pictures. I have been busy with these babies. This weekend we went to a Veterans parade. Some of the soliders from Tim’s unit were in it. We had fun. It was cold and windy. Yesterday I took Joshua to a birthday party in between church services. I didn’t get much done this weekend. Today my neice Emily is here. I am going to start watching her a few days a week. The boys are out of school today and tomorrow for Veterans day. We went outside and picked up pine cones for a Christmas decoration project. Then we went in the front yard and raked leaves into a big pile. Of course I had to encourage them to jump right it. I took pictures. I will post them later. Here is a quick picture of Andrew. He was crying but I got him to laugh. You can see the splotches on his face from crying. Look at those teeth. I am expectin two more to pop up at any minute. He is drooling like crazy.
Hummingbird Fabric Postcard
I also made this hummingbird fabric postcard for a friend. I don’t want to say who because she reads my blog. LOL. She will figure it out when she gets it in the mail this week. I drew the hummingbird with a black permanent fabric pen. I then used fabric markers to color it in and add detail. I am making a few Christmas gifts this way.
3 commentsSock Monkey Fabric Postcard
I made this fabric postcard for a swap bot partner who like sock monkeys. I embroidered it while watching TV the other night. It took about an hour. I looked at a few pictures on the internet and figured I could draw one of my own.
My hubby is calling it a gym monkey. He said it looks like he has on a headband and wristbands. He is going to the gym to work out. LOL.
Instructions for Making a Fabric Postcard
Simple Fabric Postcard Instructions
Material List
1 - 4 inch by 6 inch piece of Pellon Peltex 70 stabilizer( This makes the postcard stiff.)
1 - 4 inch by 6 inch piece of muslin or white cotton fabric (For the back)
1 - 4 inch by 6 inch piece of cotton fabric (For the front )
2 – 4 inch by 6 inch pieces of fusible webbing. I use Wonder Under or Steam Lite.
Hot Iron (No water or steam)
Scissors
I buy the Pellon Peltex 70 and the Wonder Under fusible webbing at Wal-Mart. You can also purchase them at Hancock Fabric, JoAnn’s, or Hobby Lobby. Your local quilt shop might carry them also. You can purchase Pellon Peltex 71. It has the webbing already on one side. The Pellon Peltex 72 has it on both sides. The 72 is good if you aren’t going to do any fancy stitching because you can adhere both the front and back material at the same time.
If you use the Pellon Peltex 70 you will need to iron a piece of the Wonder Under fusible webbing to the back side of both of your fabrics. There will be a paper layer that will need to be peeled off before you can iron it on to the stabilizer. Make sure not to use steam it will make it hard to peel the paper backing off of the fusible webbing. Lay the fabric on the stabilizer with the webbing facing the stabilizer. Iron the fabric for about 10 seconds. If you want to embroider or hand stitch on the front do so before you add the back material or your stitches will show. Once you have the front like you want iron the back on like you did the front. Use your scissors to trim any excess fabric off. To finish off the postcard I use a satin or zig zag stitch around he outer edge of the postcard to give it a finished look. You could also do a blanket stitch by hand.
This is the one my oldest son made. He is almost 14.
5 commentsBelated Birthday Cake & Christmas Ornaments
Tyler baked a cake last night. It is butter pecan with chocolate icing. Yummy. He has said that he wants to be a chef. He is a teenager and will probably change his mind a million times by the time college roles around. The cake mix was left over from my birthday. Tim was supposed to bake it but couldn’t because the roast was in the oven. The picture is a little blurry. He was being goofy. So this is the only good one I got.
I made these two Christmas ornaments today for a swap partner. I hope she likes them. They had to be handmade. I hand stitched the beads on and hand stitched them close.
The Christmas tree is a dark green felt with glitter on it. It is hard to tell from the picture.
3 commentsMcCain VS. Obama
Tomorrow is an important day for our country. I felt compelled to share this with my fellow Americans. I thought it was an interesting comparison. Maybe it will help some people who are undecided. God Bless America.
