Last year in September I posted my first free pattern that I designed using EQ5. I have sense named it Crossed Paths. I received an email a few months ago from a nice lady named Elizabeth. She was interested in making this quilt, however the pattern was for a baby quilt. She wasn’t quite sure how many blocks she would need for a queen sized quilt. She asked if I would help her figure it out. Of course I said yes. I also told her that when she was finished I would love to see a picture of her quilt. I got an email yesterday with a picture. She has kindly given me permission to post a picture of her quilt on Fabric Mom. So here it is:

Isn’t it just beautiful? I love the colors and material she used. The heart fabric is just to die for. It really brings movement to the paths. I am so excited to be able to share this with all of you. Here is a link to the pattern and a picture of the baby quilt I made using the pattern.

I mailed off this beauty this morning to North Carolina. It is twin sized. I quilted in the sashing using a stencil. It is the first stencil I have ever used. I used a white pencil to mark on the black material. It turned out pretty good. It didn’t take as long as I thought it would. So I will definitely try it again. I have one more t-shirt quilt to finish up this week and get in the mail by Wednesday. I will be up late this week. I am a glutton for punishment. At least I am getting paid to make them.

I also made a Christmas wall hanging over the last couple of weeks. It turned out so cute. I didn’t want to mail it off to my partner. My Quilting Buddies had a swap using this pattern. Three of us signed up to swap. I would love to make more of them for gifts. If only there were 28 hours in a day.

I was playing around with some pellon and made these Christmas ornaments. All the fabric is from my scrap bin. It was nice to use up some small pieces. The third ornament is the edges I cut off to make the modern Christmas tree ornament. I stitched them together and thought they looked like a bell. Why waste it right? I stitched a zig zag stitch so that it would look like garland to give it a little more interest.

Back

These Christmas ornaments I made for a swap on My Quilting Buddies. I added the glitter to the fabric.

I clipped the edges of this one like a rag quilt. Gave it a handmade look.

This is what I have been up too for the past few weeks. The reason why I haven’t been on the computer or posting. This time of year is so hectic. Last night I finally was able to get the ornaments on the trees. We put the trees up a week ago. Just haven’t had time to decorate them. We have one in the den where we open our presents. We put one in the living room in front of the window. It looks so pretty from the road. We got that tree at a yard sale very cheap. It was from the 70′s. It is all plastic. No fake needles falling on the floor like our other tree. LOL. I decorated it with all handmade ornaments. I will have to take a picture. They are so pretty.

A dear friend of mine Tina, has started a new online quilting group. It is called My Quilting Buddies. If you like to swap or chat with other quilters around the world you might want to check it out. I am hosting a few swaps.

There are no sew swaps: 4 1/2 inch charms, fat quarters, fat 8ths, strip swap, and a layer cake swap.

The sew swaps are: a themed 6 1/2 inch nine patch swap, Scrappy Tennessee block, I’ve been framed block, Box quilt block, Stash buster block, and a wall hanging or table mat swap.

There are 3 different blocks of the month to choose from. There is also a barter board where you can post items you no longer want and list what you want for it. Very cool. I have traded blocks that I made but never made into a quilt and fabric I no longer wanted. We all have that moment when going through out stuff and think, “Why did I buy this?” Usually for me it was because it was on sale. LOL.There is also a list of great free patterns and tutorials.

I am hosting the scrappy strip swap, 4 1/2inch charm swap, and the 6 1/2 inch nine patch swap.

So please come by and say Hi and maybe join a swap. Hope to see you there.
